YUCCA CANE

Question
Hi!  I am not sure if you are the person that helped me about six months ago but let me fill you in... I have a large(talland full) Yucca Cane plant or tree.  It is about61/2 feet tall in the pot.  About six months ago it had trouble leaved, I guess thats what you call them, would change from their strong green color to pale green/yellow and procede to dry up.  I was told by an"expert" that it sounded like there was a built up of salt in the dirt  etc.  I put the plant in the tub, cleared the water drain holes and really watered it  so the water ran out.  I did this more than once. This worked!  Well the plant is doing the same thing again and so did I but I am not seeing any improvemnet.  Is it sick?  Or is this normal in the WInter months as I am in New York/  Perhaps I need flood it more, I did it twice.  Any ideas would be very helpful.  Thanks!

Answer
A.J.,

At this time of year you are probably seeing the normal turning of leaves due to the season change. Hold back on the water at this time of year. Yuccas are very drought tolerant and their water demands are low in winter. Remove the damaged leaves up to the healthy leaves. These are very sturdy plants and yours should be fine. Don't overwater!
