N bicalcurata

Question
Hello I want to get a N bicalcurata but I wanna make sure I have a the correct conditions  before I get it. The plant would get 5hrs of sunlight behind a southwest window and distilled water and I will mist it frequently. So could I grow it or not. Also will you guys be selling this plant and when? Thank you

Answer
Hi Ishan,

Nepenthes bicalcurata is one of the Nepenthes that lives up to the stereotype of wanting hot, humid conditions.  Unless you're in a warmer climate such as Florida or Hawaii, a bicalc would need to be in a warm greenhouse or very large terrarium. (They get huge.)  They don't like being below 70 degrees. They don't do well as a windowsill plant unless you're in a warmer climate.  If you can supply warm, humid conditions, they grow like a weed.

For that reason we only carry them in the summer, and then only rarely.  They just need to be too warm, and our greenhouse is set up for highlanders.

Good Growing!
