frozen aloe


Question
well here is my problem well my aloe froze and then got all droopy and my husband said that i could cut the plant part and leave the roots in the pot and it would grow back i wanted to know if it was true(by the way i already cut it) the plant was 4 yrs old and had 3 off shoots it was about 2 ft tall at least and im kinda upset its goin to have to grow all over again. if i cant regrow it i guess ill have to buy another one lol. if you can help me let me know

Dear Dee,

Sorry for the delay...the holidays....anyway,
most Aloes can sprout new branches once the crown is damaged or broken off (or cut off in your case). However, that depends on the type of Aloe. Most Aloe's will recover from a hard freeze, unless the stem wasn't also frozen, hopefully thats not the case. If you don't see new sprouts of leaves along the stem in a few months, then the plant is dead. Again, sorry for the delay, hope this helps.
