White powder mold on my roses.

Question
How do I get this to go away ? I have cut off all the leaves most is on the new growth & the buds. I spray soapy water on a lot of plants to keep bugs off of my plants.
will this work on something like that ? or something to get that won't cost a a lot of money to get to go way. I live in the panhandle of Florida & but by cutting off all the new growth will this harm the roses from growing they have just started to grow good.
thank you please reply soon as I need to get this problem under control.
Thank you,
Penny

Answer
Hi Penny...You don't say if you have old garden roses or new roses on root stock.  Each one is handled differently.  The newer roses take more care and spraying, while the antique or old garden roses are easier to take care of.  There are products such as Neem Oil, or different products to handle mildew as your garden centers. Most oil sprays are mixed with water and dish detergent and do not cost very much and go a long way.  If you keep cutting off the new growth all the time you will never see it bloom.
