Indoor roses

Question
I have a very quick question for you. Can I get some blaze
climbing roses to grow indoors, right next to a large and
mostly sunny window? I dont expect they will do as well as
outdoors, but could I coax them into doing ok?

Answer
It would be wonderful if we could grow roses in a house. I am sure, myself included, would go out and get some. However it is the heat and dryness of a home that stops a rose from growing well inside. Spider mites plus other nasties, just love hot and dry atmospheres and will be almost impossible to eradicate. Now if you planted your climber in a pot that was 3 feet wide by 3 feet deep, placed a mulch over the base of the rose, put it in an unheated room right next a south facing window then misted it every day, fed it liquid fertilizer monthly and finally sprayed it to make sure there were no insects you might get it to grow and flower for you. It is the damp humidity outside that roses love plus the washing of the rains and then the warmth of the sun drying them off, plus the cool soil on their roots.
