tiny orange worms

Question
I was looking at acorns one day and I found two little orange worms eating the acorn.I would like to know if they are parasites and if they are bad for my tree.
Thank you.

Answer
Tiara:
These insects are probably considered parasites, but I suspect they will have minimal overall impact on the tree health.  Just be sure that the tree is being watered and fertilized well.  There are usually other insects out there that keep the bad boys under control.  Just keep an eye out occasionally for their numbers. If you become concerned later on, contact your local county Extension office to have someone visit your oak.
