dumb cane issue

Question
I have noticed some areas on a few leaves that appears to have been nibbled.  I have searched both the plant and soil and find absolutely nothing.  Any ideas and/or solutions?

Answer
Hi Barbara:

Can you send me a photo of this damage? It could be a mechanical injury or some critter. Mechanical injury often occurs as the leaves are just unfolding or just prior to unfolding. Some insects and slugs can feed on the leaves.  They can be sneaky and can conceal themselves quite well in the soil or on the plant itself. Has the plant been outside? I am sure it is probably inside now due to the cold weather ( I live outside Raleigh).

A photo can be helpful.  Be sure to review it on your computer before sending.

Thanks
Steve
