Yellowing magnolia

Question
I recently purchased a magnolia shrub which I repotted into a large pot (no garden just a veranda). Leaves looked yellowish so gave an ericacious feed a week ago. Still dropping yellow leaves anything else I should do? I am in The Bahamas and the pot is in sun at the moment.

Answer
Hi Eunice,  You may have some leaf drop from the repotting.  Otherwise it could be you are not watering enough, don't know anything about the weather in the Bahamas but here in Florida I water potted plants everyday.  Sometimes I just water the outer edge as the plant dries from the outside in.  The last thing that it could be is fall.  Some plants drop some leaves in the fall if they are not deciduous to make room for the new leaves that will be coming.  So check out the various scenarios to see what makes sense to you.  Watch for the new growth, if there was a nutrient missing the new leaves will come out looking good and green.  Hope this helps.  kathy
