I am writing from Santa Barbara, CA. I moved my current apartment a few months ago. Today I noticed many tiny bugs in one of the bathrooms. These are ~1mm in length. Can you please help me identify them? (and also if you know what they are how can I get rid of them)

These is a clover mite. Clover mites feed on plants and sometimes enter homes in large numbers from plants/weeds growing next to the structure. They are harmless and can be manged by cutting back any vegetation that touches the building, especially grassy vegetation.
