Baking soda/sugar on lawns/pastures for moss removal

Question
I read a couple of your tips on moss removal by using baking soda and weed reducer using sugar.  What effect does using them on your lawn or pasture have?  Does the baking soda or sugar kill the grass?  Can I mix the two together and do one spraying?  I have a ton of moss in my pastures which is chocking out the grass.  I have a tractor broad sprayer that I plan to use, how long until I start seeing results and how often will I need to repeat this?

Answer
Is this moss a fungus or a plant?
Some plants are called moss, because of their appearance, but they are really a plant, as in Irish Moss.
Baking sofa won't kill that.
Baking sida and sugar won't hurt any plant.
Sugar keeps the beneficial microbes alive and enriches the soil so the weeds don't thrive and grow there. Baking soda kills molds and fungus.
If you have laundry that has soured and has mildew, fill the washer with water, dump in a bunch of baking soda, and let soak awhile, then run them through a cycle and rinse. They will be nice and fresh.
Moss on a sunny pastor doesn't sound right.
Another good fungus and mold killer is Hydrogen Peroxide.
I put about a half teaspoomful in the water for cut fl;owere. Keeps the water from getting smelly, and the flowers last longer.
How fast you see results depends on how much enriching your soil needs. I noticed fewer weeds in about 2 weeks, or two mowings, then in a couple more mowings, there were fewer still.
If that moss is a fungus, you should start seeing results within a day or so. If it is a plant you will see no results, unless it is a weed.
It sounds like a lot of sun on a pasture, if not, and there is a lot of shade, you are going to have to prune out some tree branches etc to get more sun on it.
Lots of sun will take care of a moss grown because of shade.
I broadcast my sugar by hand. You could spread the baking sofa that way too. You water in the sugar well, so you could really apply them together and then water them in together.
After a couple of weeks, you should be able to tell if you need more baking soda, and which areas you need it in.
The sugar will continue to work, because the microbes will be alive, unless someone puts fertilizer of some other harmful chemical on them.
