My wife is spreading Baking Soda powder on the grass. She claims it will kill carpet grass but not the St. Augustine grass.

Our residence is Dunedin, Florida.

Is she correct about using this approach to kill carpet grass?

Will it kill the St. Augustine grass?

I have no credible evidence that baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) will kill carpet grassAxonopus compressus and leave St. Augustine (Stenotaphrum secundatum unharmed.
There is a law that prohibits us from using a product outside of the label directions.
