Walking on new sod

Question
I do not have a sprinkler system, so I have been hand watering my newly installed sod. Have I damaged the grass by constantly walking on it?  I've noticed that the area of yard that I did not walk on looks much thicker.

Answer
Hi Carrie;
I don't have a sprinkler system either. wouldn't have one if they paid me a salary to have it there.
Well, if they paid me to have it, i might, but I wouldn't use it.LOl
They waste too much water.
If you are concerned about walking too much on your new sod, get a soaker hose, lay it out in a pattern, and water with that.
Read some of my answers on watering, like the question i answered just before yours.
You really have to walk on it a lot to damage it. the amount you walk on it to water it should not hurt it.
The aosker hoses with a timer on the faucet, so you can set it and go away, is sooooo much easier than even a sprinkler that sprays in the air and evaporates more water than hits your lawn.
Only thing with hand watering, you may not be wetting it down deep enough.
