how often do you need to water, do you need to plant seed before laying down seed.

frank, i guess you mean how often to water new sod. water it every day, and a good soaking. you should almost water it to a point where it is too wet to walk on. how often that is depends on temp., wind, and type of soil. it would be best (but probably not convenient) too water it with multiple short soakings rather than one long one to eliminate run off. you do not need to put seed down before sod.
