Too Cold to Water New Sod

Question
Help !  I just laid 5 pallets of sod and now it has turned cold (around 30 degrees
at night and 55-60 during the day).  It is supposed to warm to 50-70 by this
weekend but I am afraid to water the grass in the morning because I dont want
the grass to freeze.  The sod was laid three days ago.  Please help...before my
investment dies !!  Thank you so much.

Answer
Frozen sod is usually able to bounce back okay, but it would be better to wait until the temperatures are in the 50-70 degree range. Keep in mind that the soil is still probably much colder than the air and it could be very slow going to get the roots to knit down into the soil.

Keep up the good work, and the grass should be in pretty nice shape for the season!
