Wasp control

Question
I have been reading a lot of your answers to other questions. You have been very helpful to me and many others. I was wondering if you know of anything that can be sprayed on plants or grass that will keep wasps and bees away. The same for spiders. I have young children and they love to be outside. I am concerned of an allergic reaction that they may have if stung by a wasp. I live in the Tampa Florida area, so there is quite the abundance of these nuiscances.
Secondly, I am going to try your advice on the sugar on St. Augustine grass. I have been using several different lawn companies in the last few years. The grass looks good, but I do have a problem with nutgrass in my backyard. Your advice on using sugar to kill this weed was great. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Bruce;
Sugar doesn't KILL anythig.
It nourishes the benefivial mivrobed that enrich the soil. Weeds won't thrive in rich soil.
If you are using a lawn service, and you put down sugar and/or other organics, and then cheicals are used on the yard, they cancel out the benefits of the organics.
You have to either go totally organic, or stay with chemicals.
as for the bees and wasps,I don't know what will get rid of them. They both collect nectar, and will be where flowers they can get nectar from grow.
Spiders outside I don't know how to get rid of.
Inside, rosemary and lavender repel spiders, roachs etc.
But the same is true with orgaincs, if you use chemicals it will cancel out the benefits of the organics.
Fertilizers and other chemicals kill those beneficial microbes.
The organic program puts NO poisons on your lawn, so it makes a safe place for children and pets to play.
