sugar and wild violets

Question
What is the amount of sugar you use to kill your wild violets?  How often do oyu apply this?

Thank you,
Jim Howard

Answer
Hi Jim;
The only weeds I wanted to keep were the wild violets, and I think they were the first to disappear completely.
I feed my beneficial microbes sugar in the spring and fall, or as close to that as I can come. sometimes I am just not up to doing it for a couple of momths.
I didn't get my fall sugar down until April this year. LOl
I have been using it for 8 years, so if I totally miss a feeding, it doesn't do any damage.
You can put the sugar anytime you want, about every 6 months, as a rule will be enough.
I use 1 pound per 250 sq. ft. of lawn and garden.
The sugar doesn't kille the weeds. It nourishes the microbes that enrich the soil, and weeds will not thrive in rich soil. They die out in a couple of mowings. When the soil is very rich, they don't even bother to come up and if any do, they are gone before they get big enough to notice.
I threw sugar for about 3 feedings in the back alley too, where poison ivy was growing. No more poison ivy back there.
Write anytime you have a question about organics.
