Watering Tall Fesule Lawn

Question
Hello,

How often and for how many minutes per day should I water my fescule lawn? During the Winter, during the summer months.

I look forward to you expert response!!

Thank you,

Wayne

Answer
Hi Wayne,

There's no precise answer for this unfortunately. There are so many factors that affect this that I wouldn't even know where to start. In reality, every single property is different. Professional turf managers study this stuff for years to be able to understand.

Let me tell you what I tell everyone else, and I think you should be okay. Your lawn needs JUST ENOUGH water. Any additional water will only cause problems.

SO, start by watering the lawn 3 days per week (provided there isn't any rain) and start with 30 minutes per section. After 2 weeks take a look and see if it looks okay. If so, cut back to 20 minutes per section for the next two weeks. Keep doing that until it shows signs of drought stress, then boost the water back up a bit. Conversely if you see signs of drought stress after the first waterings, then increase to 40 minutes and keep increasing until it seems to green up.

Good Luck Wayne. Let me know if you have any other questions.
