Question
I have read some of the answers to this white powdery substance, but I too live in Texas and this is the first time I have seen it. they are like drops of paint on the ground but powdery looking. My brother told me that it is a mold due to watering in the evening. Is there any truth to this and is it harmful to my Chihuahua?

Hi Cathy,

It sounds like you have some Powdery Mildew. It's really not a big deal. It won't harm the grass under any normal circumstances, and I've never heard of it harming an animal, though you'd be better off asking a Vet about that.

Excess night watering can make this problem worse, but it isn't much to worry about. Hold off watering for a week, and it should go away.
