Irrigation will work, then stop

Question
Heres my question.  I noticed this morning (for the 2nd time in a row) that my sprinkler system will work fine for about 30min and then start spitting air and stop working.  I immediately turned it off for fear of damage.  I also want to note that our area is experiencing VERY low rain levels.  Could my sprinkler well (separate well from home well) be dry?  Other thoughts?

Answer
Yes, you most likely have a lowered water table as a result of lack of rainfall.  You may need to lower the well pipe in order to maintain flow.  Unless you are familiar with this kind of work, I would not attempt it.  Consult with a local well service company.
