HR 6100 control panel (ser# NB24)

Question
QUESTION: how do i get a wiring diagram for this four station controller.  my father has one that the wiring at the valves was torn loose and i need to rewire the valves to the controller so that he can use his sprinkler system.  thanks

ANSWER: Hey Bob, I hope this helps. Basically the way the controller is wired is fairly simple. In the back of the controller you will see different terminal hook-ups. The (C) terminal is the common terminal. This wire is considered a common wire for all the valves. This wire will go to each solenoid, and hook to one wire from each solenoid. The other terminals are marked from #1 to #6. This controller can actually handle up to 6 valves. So one wire will run from the #1 terminal, to valve #1, and hook to the other wire on the solenoid, not hooked to the common wire. Likewise, each other wire from the other numbers, will run to a separate valve, and hook to the solenoid coresponding to it's number on the controller, not hooked to the common wire. A good web site that might help you out, is www.irrigationtutorials.com. Let me know if I can be of anymore help. Thanks and have a great day.

QUESTION: thanks!  all the valves work now except one. it is a richdell 713DPR.  once we turned the water back on to the sprinklers, this valve was stuck open and leaked from its casing.  the other three valves opened and closed as they are supposed to, but this one valve doesn't operate and leaks.  is it possible to fix the valve (and how do you do this) or do we just have to replace it.  thanks

Answer
Hey Bob, I hope this helps. Bob these valves can be rebuilt, without replacing the whole valve. Richdel was bought out by a company by the name of Irritrol. They have a web site www.irritrolsystems.com. The valve and its parts are probably still made by Irritrol, although it might be a different model # now. Go on the website and see if you can find your particular valve. If it is leaking between the two plastic halfs of the body, then it probably needs a new diaphram installed, or the one that is in there, is not installed properly. If the valve is leaking, it is going to run all the time, as you have already found out. Basically to replace the diaphram, the screws need to be taken out of the top(if it has screws) or the plastic collar needs to be unscrewed (if it is the type with a plastic collar). A real good website to show you how to replace the diaphram is, www.irrigationtutorials.com. Good luck and have a great day.
