Question
I have yellow crook neck squash and the fruit is growing and when i pick the 2-3 inch has a hard shell, split, inside is hollow. please assist me with identification and how to remedy. Much appreciate your kind attention

I'm not sure about this, but it sounds like you may have some squash crossed with gourds.  If that is the case, all you can do is plant different seeds next year.
If they are crossed with gourds, don't try to eat them.
