Tulips in Novmeber

Question
My daughter is getting married November 15 and would like to have her bridesmaids carry tulips and use submerged tulips on the tables.  I have had trouble finding florists that have tulips in November, but I often see advice that they are available year round.  What gives? The wedding will be held near San Diego. She is looking for orange tulips with long stems and a larger head.  Thank you.

Answer
Basically, all tulips are coming from Holland.  Tulips are considered a "spring" flower and the public desire for tulips, daffodils, etc. are considerably less during the winter months.  It also depends on how many tulips that a florist has order - unless there is a mass need, florists may have a harder time ordering such limited quantity from their wholesalers - esp. if they are dealing with someplace as far away as Holland.  With airfare and transportation at an all time high, the cost of several bunches of tulips may far surpass the tulips actual worth.  But, I would suggest going to an LA flower market that deals with the public and start inquiring from the different vendors - you may have a better chance of them being able to order a bulk shipment of tulips vs. an individual florist.  Regardless, a wholesaler should give you a better answer as to whether tulips in November can be done and if it worth the overall cost.  Best Wishes.
