forcing tulips

Question
Hi there,
I've read that tulips can be forced indoors, but all of the instructions I've come across for doing this are aimed at having them bloom for Christmas. Is there a way to grow tulips indoors such that you would have them blooming in June/July/August? Thanks!

Answer
Hi cm,
Thanx for your question.  This website speaks nicely to forcing tulips.

It takes 8-10 weeks to flower so it seems to me, you would want to keep the bulbs in a crisper of the fridge (with no fruit in the crisper - impedes blooming) until 8-10 weeks before you want your tulips to bloom.  So, if you want them to bloom in August, keep them in the fridge until May.  I hope this helps.
Tom
