Fruit and Floral Arrangements

Question
QUESTION: What is the best way to fill a vase with sliced oranges, lemons, and limes. The vases I have are 5-inch  squares and are 4-inches deep.  I want to do one vase with oranges, one vase with lemons, and one vase with limes. I would like to add 3 gerber daises to each vase (perhaps place a 4-inch square vase inside??). Or should I use oasis??  The arrangements are for Easter Sunday. Thank you in advance for your help!

Answer
Thank You for the Question!  That will turn out to be a lovely arrangement - and very springy!  I would use the vase within the vase method.  Gerber daisies are highly sensitive to the ethelyne gas that fruit gives off - especially when the fruit is sliced.  Also see if a local florist has Gerber pills from Chrysal - they work wonders!  Tape the inner vase with clear tape ( make a "grid" ) and that will help position the Gerbs better.  If Oasis is something that you would like to try - use colored Oasis foam - it comes in a powder, cubed, and block form.  They have bright colors - when you use the colored foam, you won't have to have it covered - it was created to show off!

Happy Easter!
