Can you please clarify whether or not the fruit of the banana plant is considered a herb as well as a fruit?

Hi Sam -

I have never heard of banana fruit being considered an actual herb. It is a fruit and may be prepared for medicinal purposes in many cultures but I do not believe it is classified as an herb.

The banana plant on the other hand may be rearched under the "herbal" catergory depending on what sites or books you are referencing.

Many island cultures use the banana plant and fruit for medicinal purposes. If you want more information on this topic you may want to try searching under island lores and information.
