LIquid amber

Question
HI,

I was wondering if liquid amber could be grown indefinately in pots?  I saw some looking very healthy in a 12" pot in the nursery today.

Answer
Hi Jane,
Thanx for your question.  Yes, you can grow just about any kind of tree in a pot.  Just trim and prune it to keep it to a manageable size.  Once the tree gets to the preferred height, cut off the growing point and keep the tree tidy by trimming and pruning as needed.  I've seen a lot of different trees grown indoors.  A deciduous tree (trees that lose their leaves and go dormant) must be afforded the appropriate cold period.  If a deciduous tree isn't allowed to go dormant, it will wear itself out and eventually die.  Dormancy, is the period plants use to rest, rejuvenate and prepare for the next cycle of growth.  I hope this helps.
Tom
