Question
I was given a very nice plant/tree with a 6 inch trunk/stalk, with layered wood texture to it and long, narrow, red on the edge green in the center leaves that come to a point.  There are about two dozen leaves coming from one area.  They grow up and then fan out and down.  I hope I'm describing this well enough for you.

I noticed you rated me very low without even giving me a chance to identify your tree from a picture. Your description is vague and bonsai is an art that includes hundreds of varieties of trees. A picture is the only way any expert could identify it. I am sorry that who ever gave it to you was not professional or courteous enough to give you an identification with it.
