sand

Question
i have put sand down in my yard to bring the land level up i have had a small section down for about two months now and it has no grass on it. the bigger section has packed and had a full lawn grown in. I would like to know what can i do to seed up the hardning process and still allow grass to grow. one place mixes a bag on cement in with 1 ton of sand but what about my grass?

Answer
Hi Holly, I would rent/borrow a tiller and till the sand into the soil.  Deep sand on top of soil will likely be a nightmare to water and it will likely sustain winter damage in extended cold or dry periods.  Once blended, your grass should fill in quickly if you're using the right type grass and it has the right conditions (sunlight, moisture, etc.)  Jim
