Saskatoon berry bushes

Question
I planted Saskatoon berry bushes about 5 years ago and several have not produced fruit.  Some don't even flower.  This year several have flowers and I am wondering if there is something I have to do to assist in pollenation; someone suggested a chemical but I don't recall what it was.

Any assistance would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Norma,
Thanx for your question.  Because the Saskatoon berry prefers an acidic soil (pH between 6.0 and 7.0)  I would use an application of Miracid or some other acidic soil amendment following the directions on the package.  This should help improve growth, flowering and fruit production.  Make sure the plant is getting plenty of water in well-drained soil.  I hope this helps.
Tom
