Can you recommend a potting soil for first year Japanese maple seedlings in an outdoor bed? The concern is a medium light enough to avoid compaction (damping off), and a recipe whose ingredients can be purchased in bulk. Thanks, Jay in Clayton, NC zone 7b

thanx for your question.  Why don't you make your own potting soil and you can customize it to your needs.  Here are some recipes and you can buy your ingredients in bulk and save a ton of money!  I hope this helps.
