seeding date seeds

Question
QUESTION: I have seeded the seed of date tree   I have never seeded before so plz give me the complete proceedure abouts its watering ,caring and etc

ANSWER: Hi Abdul,
Thanx for your question.  I have started several different types of palm although I don't believe I've tried a date palm.  Most palm seed need 1 month to 6 months to germinate.  Plant the seed about 1 inch deep in a pot of good potting soil and keep it watered but not soggy.  It also needs to be kept warm.  Like I said, I've had some palms sprout in less than a month, others have taken 6 months and I understand there are some that can take up to a year.  Make sure with your dates that you have removed all of the pulp because pulp can inhibit germination.  Once the seedlings emerge, transplant them to separate pots and change the pots when the plants get too big for them.  Most palms are slow growing.  I hope this helps.

QUESTION: salam,
i am not watering it since last three or four days
will some effects fall on it

Answer
Salam Abdul,
I doubt if a couple of days without water will hurt your seeds.  Make sure the soil is kept moist but not soggy and make sure the soil is kept warm.  If the soil is soggy the seeds will rot.  If the soil is moist and warm, the seed will germinate.  Temps should be around 80 degrees F.  I hope this helps.
