white nectarine seeds

Question
i read another question/answer on this sight that talked about nectarine seeds, and how they need a season or two of cold to stimulate the enzymes in the seed, ect.  my question is, can i use my refrigerator or freezer to replicate this temperature change by maybe wrapping the seed in a towel and placing it in the freezer for a few weeks, then taking it out and planting it?  thanks for your time!

Answer
Hi Jake,
Thanx for your quesion.  Yes, you can use your refrigerator to simulate cold stratification or vernalization.  Place the seeds in a damp paper towel and put them inside a plastic baggie and place in the refrigerator (not the freezer) for about 90 days.  You can plant the seeds after that and place the pot in a warm environment and they should germinate in a few weeks.  I hope this helps.
Tom
