Frost Protection

Question
My seed pods are not ready to be pick. Got bad weather coming in. In cental Tx. How can I save these pods, been told they have to stay on plant, till they turn brown.
Plants are Moon vine,Moon Trumpet plant (to big to bring in),and Jasmine Vine. Hope you can help me on this. Thanks Dix

Answer
Dixie, the seed pods do need to fully mature before picking, otherwise they will not be viable.

The only thing you can do is to cover them with reemay. Reemay are floating row covers that are made from a fleece-like material, very similar to sheer curtains. It will protect the plants up to five degrees, which is usually enough unless the temperatures dip into the low 20's.

Attached is a link to a site that sells this product. You can use this as a reference before going to your local nursery, where it is usually available.
