Weird little pods??

Question
On top of the soil in 2 of my potted plants are the weirdest little pods. They are brownish, fuzzy, and about the size of the end of a Q-tip and in clusters. I picked a group up and realized that they have small roots, then i squeezed them. White gel-like stuff oozed out then little black seeds. It was disgusting, almost like a pimple, ugh! What are they, Will they harm my plants and how do get rid of them? Also will the seeds replant themselves? If you still don't know and need a picture I could provide you with one. Please help!

Answer
A picture would be great.  Please send to [email protected] with the subject line of allexperts so it wont get deleted.  It sounds like you are describing bird's nest mushrooms.  These will have little open tops with 3-4 seeds inside.  It is just growing on the organic matter in the potting soil and will not hurt the plants.  I will wait on the picture to make sure.  Awaiting your response.  Thanks.
