this was first time seeing green pods on my iris, not knowing about leaving until turning brown I picked them. will they still  dry & turn brown?

Thanx for your question.  Yes, the iris pods will dry and turn brown but you picked it too early so the seeds will not be viable.  If you want to save seeds wait until the pod turns brown and starts to split open at the top.  I hope this helps.
