Question
QUESTION: How do I plant an ornamental pineapple plant?  The flower/fruit looks like a bunch of tightly grouped little pineapples.  Thanks!

ANSWER: Hi Girlie,
Thanx for your question.  Have you already started the plant, bought a plant already rooted or do you need instructions for growing a new plant?
thx,
Tom

QUESTION: Hi Tom,
I have the pineapple flower/fruit.  It looks like a regular pineapple but instead of eyes, it has little pineapples crowns.
Thanks again
Girlie

Answer
Hi Girlie,
Thanx for your question.  Because you are in Malaysia, you have the perfect climate to grow the pineapple plant outdoors.  Select a place that gets 8 hours of full sunlight.  Dig a hole slightly deeper and wider than the pot in which your pineapple has been planted.  Carefully, remove the plant and place it in the hole and over with the soil.  Water the plant very deeply and make sure the plant is watered at least once a week if you're not getting regular rain.  Side dress the plant with well-composted manure.  The manure should be cow, horse, sheep or goat.  If you don't have access to this kind of manure, use a commercial fertilizer rated for fruiting trees and shrubs which you should be able to find in your local nursery.  I hope this helps.
Tom
