Apple tree mold

Question
Hi, I see you have some other special apple tree stories. Mine is  also a very special seed from satire bought apple. I live in san Diego and it is out doors in direct sunlight. I was over eager and watering it every day and now it about 10 inches tall but all the new leaves have white fuzz on them. I have been rubbing it off with my fingers. I took it to local nursery and they said water it less, rub off mold and san Diego is too hot.  There is nothing else i can do. It is very special to me. Can I apply anything to the leaves, any suggestions to help me let this plant survive?
Thank you very much any advice is appreciated.

Answer
Hi Peter,
Thanx for your question.  It's not that it's too hot in San Diego it is because it very rarely goes below 40篎.  Apples and other similar fruit trees need a cool period to rest and rejuvenate or they will wear themselves out and die.  They need to go dormant for about 4 months.

Now, this mold thing.  Definitely only water when the soil is dry on top but don't let the plant sit in water.  Pot should drain well.  The nursey should have an anti-fungal.  If they can't help you go to another nursery.  They have them.  I think wiping the leaves down and reducing watering should do the trick.  Let me know if it doesn't work.
thx,
Tom
