Hi Billy,
Thanx for your question.    They can grow to 2.5 feet but are mature at around 8 inches.  They spawn in weedy or sandy shallow areas where the adhesive eggs attach to stones or vegetation. Spawning begins in the spring once the water reaches a temperature of about 41癋 for 2-3 days.  There will be at least 40,000 eggs in during the spawning. Eggs hatch in about 5 days at 65-70癋, but incubation time increases in cooler temperatures. Optimal temperature for development of eggs is about 65癋.  Like most fish, the parents leave the eggs behind and will eat the young once they are hatched.  I hope this helps.
