Water well pumps

Question
Hi,I am from Kansas. I just had a well drilled. It is 70 feet deep, has a five inch casing and water level is about 14 feet down. I want to use this well to irrigate gardens, add water to the pond, and etc. Will solely be used for irrigation...not the house. What kind of pump do I need for this? Sumbersible or jet pump? Size? Any info greatly appreciated.Angela

Answer
The well contractor will take care of that. You will need a submersible and one that will supply at least 45-55 gallons per minute for the irrigation. This is just a guess and I assume it's pretty flat there, but I'm thinking 5 HP pump. Which is big, but I don't have a lot of info and I'd rather go too big than too small. A 5 HP pump is going to use more electric when it runs and costs more, but it will last longer and be big enough for anything you do as far as irrigation. Get back to me with more info if you can.
