Sago palm trimming

Question
Southern Califirnia and when can I trim the bottom fronds off my sego palm?

Answer
Hi Renee, and welcome! your Sago (either the queen or king)can have its bottom fronds trimmed to suit the look you want; many trim them at 9 and 3..meaning the plant would be a clock and the left frond would be at 9am and the right one at 3pm, this seems to be the look that most people want. From a health standpoint, only the browned fronds need to be trimmed, but as I said, there is no harm in showing more of the trunk by taking more of the green bottom ones off. Nick
