foxtail palm seeds

Question
Hi Nick how are you mate?  Another person has asked you about planting the seeds of a foxtail palm and I understood the answer you gave them but I would also like to know when you actually plant them. ie. when the seed is on the tree do you pull it off and go through the motions or do you wait until the seed has fallen to the ground before soaking it etc.
Many thanks Scott

Answer
Hey Scott, I am good and thank you for asking; you need to wait for Mother Nature to take its course, and that is when the seeds actually detach, by themselves, from the pod; at this point they are viable for the germination process. Good luck to you in your attempt, and be patient, for not all germinate, and you must be diligent in checking them, to make sure mildew doesn't set in. Remember to add a about 4 or 5 drops of bleach to the cup of water when soaking, to clean off any surface contaminants. Nick
