Ponytail Plam

Question
Hi, Nick Sure hope you can help. I just got a Ponytail Plam  about 2 weeks ago. And there is seven trees in a very small pot How do I go about separate them i want to put 2 of the trees in one pot my there self and in another pot i want to put two together in one pot. i am planning on using Miracle_gro miosture control potting mix. And want size pot should i use. Thanks

Answer
Hi Helen, go ahead and separate them, as long as they each have their own roots; if they are attached however, it may harm them to try to sever them from each other. If you are able to separate them without any difficulty, and without harming them, then place them in a lighter soil then the Miracle-Grow Moisture control, for they are similar to a Cactus in their soil needs, and that calls for a light Cactus mix. PT's store their water in the wide bottom section, and need very little supplied by you. Initially you use any container that will hold them, but eventually they will need to be put in a progressively larger pot. Nick
