chinese hat tree

Question
QUESTION: i have a ginger plant that has been in its same location for two years.the location is shaded with just a small amount of direct sun. the plant itself is beautiful, the leaves are green my only problem is that it,s not flowering, what can i do to bring it into flower.   thanks for whatever help you can give me,don

ANSWER: Hi Don, Gingers are one of those plants that will bloom when "they" are ready; known to be one of the toughest to get to bloom, they will eventually, but unfortunately there is nothing you can do to stimulate them except to keep them from getting too much afternoon sun and keep them adequately irrigated. QUESTION: hi nick,my chinese hat tree is growing great but again its not flowering,it is not in direct sun and doesn,t get lots of sun.i feed it and keep in watered, help me please?

Answer
..It does prefer partial shade, so that isn't the problem, the fertilizer you are using may have too high a Nitrogen count, which would promote more greenery at the expense of flowering; try hitting it with either Miracle-Grow Bloom booster or any of the other solubles that have a higher middle count (Phosphorus) to promote blooming.
