Cataractarum Palm

Question
Hi Nick,
I recently bought a Cataractarum Palm and the leaves are turning yellow/brown and it has brown spots on the leaves. It also has some white on the leaves, but it looks like it was sprayed with something white.
I have moved the plant to a bigger pot because the roots were coming out the bottom and I don't know what else to do or what is wrong with it.
I am assuming that it has some sort of disease, do you know of any natural remedies that would help the plant.
Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Vanessa, It sounds like it was sprayed with a fungicide, probably to counteract that fungal problem that it is obviously experiencing (from your description...); it wouldn't hurt to spray it down with a Copper fungicide yourself (follow instructions on label...). I wish I had an image to view, it would help a lot, but from what you say, it is probably a fungal problem. Go to Home Depot or the like and get a Copper fungicide concentrate, this should curtail the problem, but keep in mind that the existing tainted leaves will remain so, it will be the new, emerging ones that should be problem free. Nick
