Question
foxtail yellowing
foxtail yellowing
QUESTION: Hey Nick, one of my favorite palms has some yellowing leaves. What could be causing this? I recently put them back outside, temps in the upper 40's at night, 60's during the day. What could be causing this? Too much rain? I am enclosing a pic. Thanks
Gary

ANSWER: Thats usually a sign of too much Sun after being out of the Sun for awhile, did you ease it back out gradually??

QUESTION: I did for a few days but mainly because it was a little chilly at night (40's). My fault, i thought the bright sun would be the best thing for them. Does this mean it (and they) will die?

ANSWER: It should be ok if you move it into afternoon shade and after new fronds (hopefully) develop you can acclimate it to full Sun "gradually"..Nick

QUESTION: Hey Nick, good news. New fronds are emerging from ALL of my damaged palms! I am very happy, however i did just transplant them into new soil (a mix of perlite/peat moss/potting soil) , im guessing this was a bad idea due to the fact they are a little stressed? I did it anyway thinking the new soil, early in spring would give them a better chance to survive. Did i do the right thing?

Answer
Theres an old saying,, whatever works is the right thing!...you seem to have a good handle on your particular plants, and I would say you are doing just fine, just remember to be patient with them and not to change them up too much, this can sometimes do more harm then good.
