frost

Question
Living in central Florida I have plants that suffered the frost. They are brown. Should I trim them down or water them?

Answer
Bonnie, you didn't mention the types, be Palms, Perennials, bushes, trees etc. and they all have some different treatment processes, but generally, you need to trim off the totally brown leaves or fronds, but only for aesthetics, there is no harm in letting them fall on their own, and yes, irrigate them , but don't over do it. Some plants had their crowns burned back from the frost/freeze, but the roots are still viable, and new growth should appear shortly, but some (true tropicals..) will have had their roots compromised also, and these will not come back. If you want, let me know the varieties and I can help you better. Nick
