kwansan flowering cherry tree

Question
Dear Gary,
I have a Kwansan Flowering cherry tree that is very tall, I mean over 30 feet.  It originally had 3 trunks.  One spring it was fully flowered and it drizzled making it very heavy and 2 of the 3 trunks fell.  The remaining trunk is now split, from the original breaks up about 5 feet.  Can I do anything about this?  And will it last?  This is a gorgeous tree and I would hate to lose it.  Thanks, Dick Schlueter

Answer
Richard,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately I believe it is time to replace this tree.  I can't imagine that after losing 2 of the 3 multi-trunks that the tree maintains its aesthetics.  Many times we spend too much time and money on lost causes with plants.  It is time to let it go and replant.

Sorry
