i have a tree in my yard im trying to id.


Question
i live in granville county north carolina i moved to this house about 3 yrs ago. the tree has a lighter colored bark its about 40 feet tall. the branches grow more to the side then straight up. the leaves are very big almost heartshaped non toothed.(from leaf end of stem to tip of leaf is about 10 inches)it produces alot of nuts that are green and very sticky in july then they turn brownish and are not so sticky towards fall.

with out a picture of this tree it would be very hard to ID it. I would sugest that you contact the NC Forest Service (a State Agency) and ask one of their Foresters to help they have a office in Granville County. Here is the contat information:
