tree for my front yard?

Question
I was wondering if maybe you might be able to help me.  We built our home last summer and now I am looking to make it look a little more like a "home", than a "house".  Currently there are no trees in the front yard.  I am looking for something fast growing, that doesn't require a lot of care.  I live in North Carolina near the coast, occasionally it gets below freezing in the winter but not very often.  The summer gets pretty hot, around 80-90 degrees and the front yard gets a lot of sun.  I would like a tree that would give shade.  I would like something very fast growing since we are a military family and are apt to move at any time.  Thanks for any info you can give, I really appreciate your time and attention to this question.  Thanks a bunch!  :o)

Answer
Nicole,

First, thank you for all you do for all of us.

Wanting fast growing trees is OK.  I am concerned being close to NC coast.  Fast growing usually means not very sturdy.  The best advice I can give is visist a local grower or garden center and find what what species are available.  This way you can get trees that are appropriate.

Good gardening
