keeping a tree trimmed

Question
Hello, I think I made an error that I may have to rectify.I planted a Autumn Blaze Maple 2 years ago in a 40/60/40 foot back yard that is adjoined by neighbors. Is there a possible way to keep the tree trimmed and small by pruning or trimming it in the years ahead. If not I will have to replant it.As you know this type of tree is going to be HUGE and will be a big problem and a liability. But I hoped there could be a way to keep it on the small side somehow. Also could you name me some trees that could fit in that size of a yard.Thanks.Pete.

Answer
Tree are tree and will grow to fairly large . This will grow at maturity to a height of about 30-50 feet and a width of about the same. Which will mean for a small yard you will have a shady backyard. The lower limbs can be pruned so you can walk etc. under it. This will take many year to reach the mature height and width (20-30 at the earliest). IF you want shade down the road it is not a problem. It will also cut the power bills in the summer from the shade. Now if the tree is planted along the property line and hangs over into the yard of a non tree lover there maybe a problem.
There is not any way to keep the tree small. IF it were me I would enjoy the tree and its benefits.
